I haven't heard of that book, but I love haunted house stories, and I first learned about the Winchester Mystery House reading The Haunting of Hill House, of course. And then there's Rose Red and of Leaves, which both draw on ghost stories from the Winchester House. The idea of place as a character in its own right, or of a reflection of the psyche of the people who inhabit it is one of those things I really love.
