I think the thing is that if someone is concritting properly, it shouldn't feel like an attack or a dismissal or misconstruction.
I actually think that's the big problem with concrit in Idol. Being able to give it appropriately is a skill as much as anything else and not everyone has that. So it isn't just that there are less people in the contest who I would take it from as being someone whose writing I admire as there are people who'll give it anyway, but also that not everyone has the ability to say "if you were to tweak this, it would be a much stronger piece for it" and have that come across diplomatically and in the spirit in which it's intended. An awful lot of the concrit I've seen in Idol has been more like swing at you with a lump hammer, so it's not that surprising that there's been a general dislike/distrust of it.
