I tried to post to LJ last night and it did no work! So here we go.

Tomorrow, starting at about 4 PM, I will be eating:

--Tangerine French 75 cocktails with Plymouth gin
--Crab & white bean crostini
--Corn & chestnut pudding
--Pureed green pea & roasted fennel salad with dill
--Marinated oranges
--Turnip & celery root cream soup
--Turkey with dijon bacon butter & cider gravy
--Bacon-biscuit stuffing
--Brown butter mashed potatoes
--Creamed spinach, yellow beets, and parsnips
--Butternut squash with tangerine and sage
--Brussels Sprouts chiffonade with chestnuts in currant sauce
--Cranberry Pomegranate relish
--Cranberry Grapefruit sauce
--Pecan Pie
--Apple-Cranberry Pie
--Pumpkin Pie
--German Chocolate Pie

As always, I made everything but the pie.

And, as always, here is a recipe that is easy to do!

Turnip and celery root cream soup
1 pound turnips
1 pound celery root
(You can substitute these for any root veggies, as long as you have 2 lbs)
4 tbs butter
1/4 cup milk
half-and-half (or cream, or milk) as needed
chicken (or veggie) stock as needed

Cut the root veggies into 1-inch pieces and put them into a pot. Fill the pot with water and make sure the veggies are covered.
Bring the pot to a boil.
Add 3 tbs of butter and salt to taste
Reduce heat, simmer without a cover for 40 minutes. The veggies should be soft enough to eat.
Put veggies in a blender. Keep 1/4 cup of the liquid from the pot in with them. Don't blend them-- let them cool.
Put butter in a small skillet and melt
Add milk, cook just until warm (not boiling)
Add to blender.
BLEND
Once smooth (you might need to blend in batches or poke some of the veggies down), put back in empty pot to warm. Add half-and-half and/or stock to taste until the soup is as thick or as thin as you like.
SERVE!
(You can do all the steps through blending ahead and put it in a tupperware, then warm and and add thinners when you are about to serve it)

I've been writing stories for girlf.net lately. It's owned by [livejournal.com profile] callmecaito. So far it's been fun, I have two stories up and one going up in a little while. You can follow it on LJ at [livejournal.com profile] officialgirlf.

[livejournal.com profile] liret should be here shortly! Then we finish Thanksgiving prep and hooray!

In other news (what I wanted to post last night), I have been keeping up the hatmaking (except for yesterday when I made a scarf). The results of last week?

Secretly, I actually made eight hats and one scarf, but one of the hats is a secret surprise present for [livejournal.com profile] quizzicalsphinx.
