So much to say. The past week has been rollercoastery in all kinds of ways, my workplace has been hit hard, spent too much time at funerals and tonight, getting home at 10:15 is the earliest I've been home in a while.

Not complaining. Just in this kind of delirious sort of sleepy way. It's also been a week of really good things, amazing conversations in amazing places, new adventures, old friends and new friends, and incredible amounts of love from so many directions.

It's just that when life is happening so fast and hard and racing, is when you don't get to update.

I had one of the most beautiful weekends ever. )

It was such a lovely, beautiful weekend, full of so much joy and excitement and wonder, and I am so grateful to have had it. And I'm really, really looking forward to the prospect of having Brenna close enough that we can see each other more often and go on more amazing adventures.

I packed everything in my bathroom but the essentials!

I packed my books and took apart my bookshelves. I cleaned out my electrical doodads and started work on my desk. I packed my shoes and all my belts and many accessories. I packed my sewing machine and my scanner.

Dishes are the main big thing that needs to get done. I will do those tomorrow with [livejournal.com profile] cacophonesque because I think dishes are easy for someone else to help pack.

I bought two air conditioners, which will be installed on Friday. My cable is also coming on Friday.

I have a request: I am thinking about doing Big Brother/Big Sister, and I need people who know me IRL and "know my living situation" to act as references. I don't need very many, but they don't need to be professional references, just people who socialize with me and can say I am reliable and responsible enough to mentor a kid. Any takers?

You may also have read in [livejournal.com profile] cacophonesque's journal that we are planning to get tattoos together. I love this plan because it will actually light a fire under my ass so I do it (I've been 'planning' to do it for over a year and it was supposed to be last year's birthday present). I am going to get this on my left ankle.

If I like it, I have two other ones planned-ish. I want to get "The World is Quiet Here," probably on the back of my neck, right on the base of my scalp where my hair will cover it up, and finally, I want to get a Fancy Chicken done up like a piece of Hokusai art with lots of bright colors on my right shoulder.

(No, I don't totally get ahead of myself).

I should go to sleep. I meant to go to sleep but then I got thinky. Nighty nighty loveys. Three days and I will be in a new apartment.

I don't really have anything else to say now, so I will just post a meme:

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

Actually, I do. I just got caught up on [livejournal.com profile] shaenon's new comic the other day (yes, I have to read comics for work). And it is possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life.

Skin Horse. Yes, I linked you to the first page so you can read it in order. I seriously was laughing so hard I was crying.

I will have more to post tonight! I am going to a party for one of my friends from high school. It is a cocktail party. So, should be interesting. Wow.

Apparently, a rock band has moved in upstairs from me. It is getting ridiculously annoying, the drumming all the time. I don't really understand why people who know they're going to be making that much noise move into apartments above other people.

<3 you all!

1) I saw this movie tonight. I know I'm preaching to the choir and I don't know if I have anyone on my friendslist who believes in outright banning of abortions, but this film, for those of you who don't know it, is about a young woman in Communist Romania and what she goes through to help her friend get an illegal abortion. I just can't stress enough the importance of films like this both to educate young people about their sexual choices, and to illuminate the reasons why we need to have accessible and safe methods of termination regardless of whether we think it is immoral, amoral, or otherwise. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone curious about the risks and methods involved in black market abortions.

--My grandmother died due to complications from a pregnancy that should have been terminated in a time when that was not a legal option.

--I went with my mother, and my mother said that this movie was eerily reminiscent of the experiences some of her friends had here in this country, in the 1960s.

--We talked at length of the difference of the portrayal of abortion in this movie vs. Juno.

2) On a lighter note, my father= only man in the world who buys his wife smoke detectors for Valentine's Day and doesn't understand why she doesn't find this an AMAZING gift.

Now, to work!

This morning, I got to go see the house my parents are buying.

It is incredible. I mean, you talk dreamhouse...this place is one of the most incredible houses I have ever seen in my life, and it is going to belong to my parents.

My room in their house is going to have a hayloft in it. Their room will too. Now, I'm naturally not intending on living there for a lot of time, but once in a while I will have the most incredible room in the world.

I am really, really happy for them. This has been three years coming.

I took a whole bunch of pictures, but I forgot to pull them off the camera before I left my mom's, so, shoot.

Then, I came back into the city. On the train, the girl behind me was having THE MOST CONTROL-FREAKY STALKER CONVERSATION EVER.

Apparently, she decided to go through her boyfriend's text messages because he WAS ALONE AT A PARTY WITHOUT HER FOR THREE HOURS. And she found one that said "Was I a bad girl last night?" from a number that wasn't stored in his phone. SO SHE SEARCHED ALL THE DOCS ON HIS PHONE and found the number in a separate 'notes' file with his sister's phone number and his ex wife's phone number.

Don't you love how much I know about this girl's love life? YEAH.

SO

Then she called the number and a girl picked up and she demanded the girl tell her who she was and the girl got upset and hung up.

AND SHE DECIDED THIS WAS PROOF THAT HER BOYFRIEND WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR.

So then then then she confronted her boyfriend ABOUT HIS AFFAIR without telling him HOW SHE KNEW. And FOR SOME REASON he accused her of being crazy and imagining things and FOR SOME REASON now he's not speaking to her.

And so she's saying to her friend, on the phone, how this is proof, right? This is proof he's cheating! And now she's going to go to the bar that the party was at and ask the bartender if he saw her boyfriend with any other girls before she got there.

Seriously.

So this other girl sat down next to me toward the end of the story, when I just totally about to burst with the psychoness of it all. So I wrote on the back of my ticket receipt "The woman behind us is having the most control-freaky stalker conversation ever." and handed it to her. And she cracked up. And then we made faces at each other for the rest of the call.

Which sadly, wasn't very long.
