Some of you may know that I used to be very actively involved as a Kisekae artist in the late 90s/early 00s.

KiSS has taken a turn for obsolescence, and a few people are working on doing something about that.

There is a chat on dA tonight to discuss. If you were an active KiSS artist or fan, or if you have ever wanted to be involved in kisekae in any way, please consider coming to the chat. Here is the information.

If you don't know what KiSS is, it's a format for creating and playing with interactive paper dolls, but it's so rich and well-developed that these paper dolls can essentially act as animations or computer games as well. If you have any questions, please let me know.

the IKL is eating my bandwidth like crazy. my bandwidth use has shot way up, and at first i assumed it was my new doll which kind of freaked me out-- it was a lot of space. but no!! the IKL uses 66% of my total bandwidth! that's a ton! for example, the other day is got 1758 hits. not that many, except consider that the page itself is 100k. it's a big page. that's almost 176 mb of my 500 mb b/w allowance.

so i'm thinking about finding a cheap "unlimited bandwidth" service just for hosting the IKL-- say $9/month or cheaper with cheap or free setup fee. i could put up a redirect where it is now and the IKL could have its own space.

anyone have suggestions?

hmm, i meant to post this yesterday. or the day before. or something like that.

i had this dream this weekend, it was, like pioneer days and there was this widower with three sons. the oldest one was named bobby and he was about 17ish and then there was one named benny who was probably about 13 and then billy who was probably like 8 or 9. the widower gets a mail-order bride to "take care of the boys" but of course she is younger than the oldest son. she was kind of wispy but had nice brown pioneer girl coloring and nice dark corn syrup colored hair. i don't know what her name was. anyway, she and the oldest son, bobby, ended up falling in love and plotting ot kill the father (not really, they just mostly fantasized about it) but then the father died anyway; he had some kind of accident or something on the road and the two of them were all angsty and then i don't remember what happened but yes, it was essentially ju dou, i realized after i woke up.

i saw colin last night; he came over to my house. he moved back into manhattan which is good. he also got a tattoo. he is now inscribed with the last line of purgatory, in italian. he is very silly.

elaine's novelia set is awesome; if you haven't looked at it you should. my character, dahlia davenport, got a mention in the text.
the invincible dahlia davenport is a character who came from my family background (the davenports of connecticut). she has a strong love of adventure only matched by her strong love of liquor. i wrote couple songs about her , one as a kid that was about her getting drunk and gambling, and the other which was about her falling in love, which has the line, "dahlia is drinking brandy, but everybody knows that's not her name."

i saw the dangerous lives of altar boys last night. i don't know when it's slated to come out in theaters but it was excellent. really good allusions to blake. great writing. the animation was okay but it was the most *real* teen movie i have seen in a long time.

my eyeballs still hurt but hopefully i will getting my glasses this weekend. they're RED RED RED!!!

thank you mikey for your diligence in the termite issue. they must have been in our apartment for the parquet floors. yaw.

how do people feel about the IKL? should i change the organizational scheme as i outlined on elaine's or not? i'm torn.

which are a direct result of the disappearance of envy, some not.

i started filling out that survey that kimiki edited from rick but now i have work to do.

i got my confirmation letter that my credit card payment went through for my web space, but i am still waiting to get my welcome letter that will allow me to sign in. once i get that, i can transfer my domain to the new servers. i need to start working on the material for the new site. anybody interested in contributing? obviously i need dolls, but i'm thinking i will set up the site first and then start taking submissions. yes, i will turn people away. but i will alsways explain why. for example, i won't accept sets that use CKiSS or EP if they don't at least make an effort to need them. other sets won't necessarily be posted right away, i will keep them in storage and post them when the theme fits. i think that will be neat.

i will also need articles. does anyone want to write about something relating to KiSS for the first update? articles i will keep in archives after they are posted so that they will always be accessible.

and interviews-- would anyone like to be interviewed? would anyone like to conduct a particular interview? let me know.

same goes for reviews. i would like to get top twelve lists from artists, with brief explanations of why. other sorts of reviews i would like are reviews of KiSS phenomena-- a series of dolls that seem to go together, work by a particular artist. and of course if anyone wants to do a serious critical review...

something else i'd like to ressurect is a "must see" list-- maybe at the end of each month i will have people submit their top five dolls that were released that month. or best debut set.
