2) [livejournal.com profile] liret didn't get birthday art because she was away for her birthday. I remedy that NOW.

what, more ridiculous wallpapers? When will you stop, Tea? WHEN WILL YOU STOP? )

Finally, for the thing I mention in the video and sexist fucking assholes at movies. spoilers for shutter )

On that note, I've been thinking about the Final Girl phenomenon a lot tonight. More on that later. Why is it that women are so often the protagonists of horror stories? I'm not sure. I am trying to figure out what it has to do with gender stereotypes. I know a lot of people cite Halloween when they talk about the origins of final girls, but you see the makings of them in characters before that-- the two girls in The Haunting of Hill House-- jeeze, even The Turn of the Screw has a proto-Final-Girl.

I'm sure smarter people than I have have written smarty pants stuff about it. Any recs?

Whee!

I don't know them. I have never met them. But they are totally alternating sex and Mario.

I hear like a board's worth of Mario music, then several minutes of rhythmic squeaking, then a board's worth of Mario, then squeaking, and so on. I wonder if they need consolation every time they find out the princess is in another castle.

So rather than asking me to name six of her interests (because she is a scaredy-puss), [livejournal.com profile] quizzicalsphinx named six of MINE.

So I will explain these ones now ) And again, if anyone wants more interests to do, let me know and I will name six of yours.

So I went to Delaware for my mom's birthday this weekend. I did loads of shopping and got new shoes and bras and jeans. And more new clothes from my grandma's store. I had a pretty awesome time, great food, and got to hear my grandmother talk about how she doesn't mind gay people and some of them are very nice...again. And some comments about fat people, too.

Also, more things to tell you guys will be incoming once I gt my camera cable. I has been a bad journaler lately.

Finally, on the train coming to my parents, I overhear the following snatches of conversation:

weirdass train conversation )

That's all for now! More tomorrow if I remember to post!

I completely forgot this this morning when I was making birthday wishes.

So the subway= insanely crowded this morning. There was this group of kids on a field trip with a couple adults, one of whom, a woman a little older than me, appeared to be their teacher.

So I didn't hear how the conversation got there, but this is where I joined in:

Child #1: ...make you join the Dark Side.
Teacher/Field Trip Chaperone: And what exactly is the Dark Side, Christopher?
Child #1: It's Darth Vaaaaaader. (He said it just like that)
Child #2: No, it ain't! The Dark Side is when you're wearing basketball shorts and nothing underneath.

And that, my friends, is that.

Oh! And!
