Reminder

A few weeks ago, I was walking home with liret, and we saw a cardboard sign asking for change. Now, I live in Hell's Kitchen. There are always homeless people asking for change. But this sign was different:






Voter Registration in most states needs to be completed and mailed in about a week if you want to get it in in time to be eligible to vote in the Presidential election.

If you have not registered yet, you can register by going to Rock The Vote. They have registration forms from all 50 states available, and you can print it out and mail it in. They will even send you reminders up until the last minute.

With that in mind, I've also made a collection of voting-themed LJ icons. The one attached to this post is from this set. One is a pro-Obama icon, the rest are non-partisan. Please comment and credit if you use any.

I just used the Obama registration site to update my address - I've gotten somewhat paranoid after hearing about plans to use things like returned mail to take people off voting lists, even though I don't think that's happening in Louisiana.

Your change sign reminds me of election-related graffiti I saw once:

"Don't vote; it only encourages them."

Although the message is rather flawed, I couldn't help but laugh.

One of my housemates and I were fantasizing about visiting NYC and I was all, I know someone kickass we could crash with (meaning you). And waxed all poetic about how awesome you are and stuff, and I thought I should, I guess, ask you if you have the space/patience for me and at most two very friendly individuals to crash while we explore NYC in the alternate dimension where this trip actually happens. Hmmm?
