Once upon a long, long time ago, on this very day, a magical fairy princess was born. She was made partly of sparkly things and partly of rainbows and partly of cupcakes with sprinkles and pink frosting, with a cherry on top, and just a dash of squee. But she left her magical kingdom far, far away, to bring joy and happiness to people on the internets.

hug_machine is awesome. She never forgets a birthday. Everyone gets a special graphic on their special day, and wishes just for them, even if they are not her BFF. So, today, everyone say happy birthday to Cat! Happy birthday! Thank you, Cat, for always making a point to try to make all the people on your friendslist smile.

A few weeks ago, I was walking home with liret, and we saw a cardboard sign asking for change. Now, I live in Hell's Kitchen. There are always homeless people asking for change. But this sign was different:






Voter Registration in most states needs to be completed and mailed in about a week if you want to get it in in time to be eligible to vote in the Presidential election.

If you have not registered yet, you can register by going to Rock The Vote. They have registration forms from all 50 states available, and you can print it out and mail it in. They will even send you reminders up until the last minute.

With that in mind, I've also made a collection of voting-themed LJ icons. The one attached to this post is from this set. One is a pro-Obama icon, the rest are non-partisan. Please comment and credit if you use any.

Below is the list of requests and the order. If anyone wants to be added, please list:
Character. Describe character's facial features. If you don't have a clear picture, eyecolor, haircolor, and skin color are fine! Also tell me what the icon should say. If you don't, you are at the mercy of what I make up at the time. And they don't just have to be RP characters. I would be happy to do book characters and stuff too. Just not anyone from a movie or someone who has to look like a photo :-P

In other news, my cat puked massively all over my rug. I know you want to hear all about that. I spent a lot of time cleaning it once I got home. My apartment is shaping up in the cleanliness department, too! I didn't do anything else today, because I only got back this evening, but tomorrow I will get back in the groove.

And OH MY GOD there are a ton of pictures on my camera. Photopost may be incoming tomorrow. Two photoposts, possibly, since I have pics of the AI experience and pics of Coney Island. Holy shit.

But why am I on my camera? Why, you ask? To take pictures of one of those embarrassingly AWESOME dorky things I do. This one involves a roleplaying scene and one of my characters getting turned into a puppy, as evidenced here:

Puck leered at the girl. "You don't want to scream," he assured her, reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out a small, black-and-grey puppy, holding it up by the scruff as it squirmed and whimpered. "Or I'll tarry to transform him from a terrier into a troublemaker."

So then I was in this most amazing store called "Raindew" which is...it's like an old-fashioned five and dime, but with modern merchandise and modern prices? Raindew deserves its own entry. I think. ANYWAY.





I know the text says black-and-gray, but that's because of his haircolor. I was still sort of envisioning him as a black lab puppy. So that's what he is now.

I am such a dork.

Finally, scrappy_jen had a kinda awesome idea in this post. I want to do it, but the current post is long enough! Bah, I am so far behind. But I wanted to rec it to everyone else.

So, to start off, I really kinda cracked after I left work yesterday. Went out to my parents' and my mom bought me burgers and beer.

Then I stayed up till five in the morning roleplaying.

Then I got up and came back to the city. I went to henpecked's house for birthday dinner. I was expecting it to be a big party, but it was not, it was just the two of us and her roomie, but we had a lovely meal-- she makes a damn good burger-- and ice cream cake and we talked about exciting things like leaving your prostheses on the subway. henpecked is super fun.

Then I came back!

Anyway, acouple posts ago, I offered people drawn icons.

Yesterday, I went to my mother's. We had sushi and watched Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money together.

Private Practice was okay. It had promise, but it seemed kinda uneven and I would rather watch House or Gray's if I'm going to watch doctor shows.

Dirty Sexy Money? WAS AWESOME. It reminded me of like a completely updated version of My Man Godfrey in terms of the zany over-the-top super-rich characters, and it was a crackup a second. And the only reason we even watched it is because Billy Baldwin was one of my parents' neighbors when they lived upstate and my mom talked to him a few times about the possibility of his kids being able to go to her school and my mom really liked him and his wife. So we were like, oh, cool, he has a new show, we ought to watch it. And it was much better than I expected it would be from the ads or the title. I'm going to have to watch it again next week.

I am going to miss Ugly Betty tonight because I am going to see Obama speak! I finally got my fastpass for the rally so yay! He starts speaking at 7. The gates open at 5. So I am trying to decide when to run down there.

The day before yesterday, quizzicalsphinx killed my RPG character's adorable fake adopted child. This is a tragic tragic time for all of us. I am mostly upset because we will never get to see what it would have been like if he had married his thirteen-years-older fake-mommy/fiancee and had serious oedipal issues.

Today, I made a present for liret that is four years in the making. While I have made many, many icons for many, many people, somehow I had never remade her old, crappy James icon. This clearly means I am an insufficient friend.

Isn't it kinda awesome when you can put two things next to each other and compare and be like, yup, I improved!?

Does anyone else want a character icon? I like making them and would be happy to make a few more. I will do original characters or characters from books, but I don't think I can manage to do realistic likenesses of real people or fake people portrayed by actors unless you don't really want them to look like the actor! Sound good? Yes? Let me know if you want one. This is because coldwriter offered free fic and berryberryrose offered free art, and I took both of them up on it, so I feel like I should do my part and pitch in! I don't know how many I have time to do, so I'm not going to put a limit on it-- I'm just going to do first-come, first-served.
